What type of payments do you accept in your branch?
Our branches accept credit card or debit card for rental charges paid on vehicle pick-up or drop-off. Cash payments are not accepted.
The bond on the vehicle is only payable by credit card or debit credit card. The bond cannot be paid with a pre-paid credit card.

How do I get to the branch?
Our Branches are conveniently located near major airports, making pick-up and drop-off even easier for you. You can arrange transport to and from the airport via taxi or Uber.
Visit out locations page to find the best pick up or return location for your road trip adventure.

What are the branch opening hours?
Visit our Locations page to see days and hours of operation by branch location.

Do you allow pick up or drop off outside of branch hours?
All guests are required to pick up during the hours specified for your branch location.  After hours drop off on request.

What is the weight of the vehicles in New Zealand?
All our vehicles are less than 4.5 tonnes.

Will my vehicle be automatic or manual transmission?
Star RV and Apollo vehicles are guaranteed automatic. Cheapa Campa and Hippie Camper vehicles may be automatic or manual transmission.
We are unable to guarantee the transmission type. Please refer to the vehicle description to check whether your preferred vehicle is automatic or manual.

Can I request a specific layout or vehicle length?
Vehicles can be requested by vehicle category; however, we cannot guarantee a vehicle layout, make or model.

How long does the battery last?
The battery system will provide power for between 12 - 20 hours when fully charged depending on use.

Our vehicles operate on auxiliary battery systems which power internal appliances such as the, lights, television and water pump.

The batteries only recharge when connected to mains power or will trickle charge when driving the vehicle. We recommend that the vehicle is plugged into Mains power every 2nd night. Idling the engine won't provide enough power to recharge the auxiliary battery.

When you are connected, all equipment automatically runs on mains power rather than the battery. Appliances such as the microwave, rear air-conditioning and power points only run on mains power. Television may run either on 240v (mains power) or 12v (battery power).

For the 12 Volt system to work, the 12 Volt main switch must be in the 'on' position. All vehicles can be connected to 240 Volt mains power via the supplied 15 Amp extension lead with large earth pin. All approved caravan park circuits are rated at 15 amps.

What is supplied with the vehicle?
All vehicles are supplied with a kitchen kit and general equipment for your convenience. This includes cooking equipment and eating utensils, as well as pegs, a clothesline, fire extinguisher, bucket, hose, broom, dustpan and brush. Electrical appliances are supplied in vehicles that have 240V. Personal kits including sheets, blankets/duvets, pillows, pillowcases and bath towels are complimentary.

Does my vehicle come with a gas bottle?
Yes, all vehicles are supplied with a full gas bottle for heating water and cooking. If you purchase the Value Pack/Star Pack, the gas bottle is included, otherwise payment is required at time of or prior to pick-up. You may return the gas bottle empty.

Can I bring my bike?
We do not have bike racks on our motorhomes. Bikes may be stored inside the motorhome; however, we would appreciate bikes to be stored in bike bags to avoid any damage to the interior of the motorhome

How long will it take to check out my vehicle?
We encourage guests to allow at least 1 hour for vehicle pick-up. One of our Guest Service Officers will take you through the Rental Agreement and show you through your vehicle. During peak times your wait time may be longer than expected.

On The Road:
Do I have to pay to use toll roads?

Apollo will pass on any charges the guest receives for traffic infringements, toll or parking fines during their road trip. For Toll Way fees received, Apollo reserves the right to charge to the guest’s credit or debit card upon receiving the toll way fee, and an administration fee of $75 to cover associated administrative costs per toll way fee received.

Apollo offers guests the option of purchasing our Toll Package for $19 which gives guests a $30 ‘toll credit’. When travelling through toll ways the credit will be used up to the value of $30. Once $30 is exceeded, another toll package will be automatically charged to the guest’s credit card. (a .75c registration matching fee applies within the $30 credit).

Where can we camp at night?
We strongly recommend you stay at a campground, holiday park or RV/caravan park. RV/caravan parks offer excellent recreational opportunities, plus essential shower and toilet facilities. Powered sites enable you to connect your vehicle to power.

We recommend you download the ApolloConnect app from the App Store or Google Play. ApolloConnect allows you to search and book campgrounds/holiday parks while on the road, as well as access great deals on local attractions.

How often should I take a break?
We encourage you to allow extra time to reach your destination. Please take a break from driving every 2 hours.

Who do I contact if I need assistance?
We encourage you to download ApolloConnect as this has a Contact Us section which easily connects you to our Reservations and Roadside Assistance teams.

To ask about availability to extend your holiday or make any other changes you can email info@apollocamper.com.au or call Reservations on 0800 113 131. For Roadside Assistance you can email apolloassist@apollocamper.com or call 0800 234 567.

Are there any restrictions on where I can drive?
We want you to stay safe on your holiday. All 2WD rental vehicles must stay on sealed roads, the only exception is a well-maintained access road less than 12kms leading to a recognised campground or national park.

For a full list of restricted locations please view the Terms and Conditions.

Do I have to pay per Kilometre travelled?
While most of our 2WD RVs include unlimited kilometres, we recommend travelling a maximum of 300 kilometres per day or the equivalent of 4-5 hours driving.

Relocation bookings will have a fixed number of kilometres based on the pickup and return location.

Preparing For Trip:
What type of driver licence do I need?
For the safety of our guests a current and full motor vehicle driver licence is required to be shown at pick-up and the driver needs to be present. If the driver licence is not in English, then we require an accredited English translation or an International Driver Permit.

The driver licence must have been held for at least two years and the licence must be valid for the entire booking duration.

Hippie drivers must hold a full driver licence or hold a restricted licence or equivalent.

How old do I need to be to drive a motorhome?
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over to drive an Apollo, Star RV or Cheapa Campa vehicle and over 18 years of age with a full driver licence or hold a restricted licence or equivalent.

Drivers must be 21 years of age or over for all relocation bookings, including “Hippie” relocations.

Do all drivers need to be present at the branch at pick-up?
All drivers are required to show their driver licence to the branch in person prior to driving the vehicle.

Do I need to supply all driver details?
We encourage you to enter all driver details online through our pre-registration link prior to pick-up. You will need your reservation/booking reference and the surname of the booking. You are not required to enter passenger details, only drivers.

What is liability reduction and what are my options?
Liability means the state of being legally responsible for something. With our vehicles, you are liable up to your chosen liability in the event of an incident or accident, regardless of fault and provided you do not breach the terms and conditions of hire.

A full breakdown of your liability reduction options are included in our terms and conditions, alternatively, our friendly Reservations team would be happy to explain these options to you. You are welcome to call on our free call number or email info@apollocamper.com with your questions.

What is included in the Value Pack/Star Pack?
The Value Pack/Star Pack includes The High Road Cover if, as well as extras like camp chairs, camp table, gas bottle, plus where applicable three toilet chemicals and baby or booster seats.

For a full list of what is included in the any of our Packs please refer to the Terms and Conditions for your vehicle.

Do I have to pay a bond?
Yes. Should you choose standard liability the bond will be debited. If you select one of the liability reduction or Value/Star Pack options, the bond amount will be an imprint. This means that the relevant amount will be “held” from your funds without being debited from your account. The Bond amount can range between $100 and $7,500.

To view the full information regarding bonds payments please review the relevant Terms and Conditions for your vehicle.

Are dogs allowed to travel in the vehicle?
We believe fur friends make a road trip better. Pet dogs can travel in Apollo, CheapaCampa and Hippie RVs with written permission from Apollo at the time of booking. There is a $200 pet cleaning fee, (excluding service animals). Our full policy can be viewed on the Apollo website. Pet dogs are not permitted in StarRV vehicles. Service dogs are permitted in all RVs.

Should I download the ApolloConnect app?
Yes. ApolloConnect contains a section of safe driving videos, which you will need to view prior to starting your road trip. You can also watch our RV “How To” videos.

Can I make changes to my booking?
Please contact reservations by email on info@apollocamper.com or calling through to our reservations team on 0800 113 131 and quote your reservation number. We will then check whether we can fulfil your request.
